Longitudinal phase-space analysis of the reaction π+p → π++π at 11.7 GeV/c and comparison of the reactions π±p → π±π+πp at the same energy

Summary

The reaction π+p → π++π at 11.7 GeV/c is analysed using longitudinal phase space (L.P.S.) plots with a sample of about 6000 events. The results are compared with those obtained by Kittel, Ratti and Van Hove in the analysis of the reaction πp → ππ+ at 11 and 16 GeV/c. The four dominant sectors 1) π+p → (3π)p, 2) π+p → π+(pπ+π), 3) π+p → → (π+π+)(pπ), 4) π+p → (π+π)(pπ+), are examined in some detail. In particular, sectors 1) and 2) are very similar to the corresponding ones observed for πp at the two momenta. The sectors 3) and 4) are compared in detail with the equivalent configurations observed in πp at 11 GeV/c,i.e. 3′) πp → (ππ)(pπ+), 4′) πp → (π+π)(pπ).

Si usano le distribuzioni sullo spazio delle fasi longitudinale (L.P.S.) per analizzare la reazione π+p → π+π+πp a 11.7 GeV/c sopra un campione statistico di circa 6000 esemplari. I risultati ottenuti vengono confrontati con quelli ottenuti da Kittel, Ratti e Van Hove nell’analisi della reazione πp → πππ+p a 11 e 16 GeV/c. Vengono esaminati in dettaglio i quattro settori longitudinali dominanti: 1) π+p → (3π)p, 2) π+p → → π+(pπ+π), 3) π+p → (π+π+)(pπ), 4) π+p → (π+π)(pπ+). Si osserva che i settori 1) e 2) denunciano un comportamento molto simile ai corrispondenti settori delle collisioni pπ sia a 11 che a 16 GeV/c. I settori 3) e 4) vengono confrontati qualitativamente e quantitativamente con le corrispondenti configurazioni 3′) πp → (ππ)(pπ+), 4′) πp → (π+π)(pπ). Dal confronto si possono dedurre le proprietà di fattorizzazione delle relative ampiezze di produzione.

Испольэуя обраэец, содержаший 6000 событий, и кривые продольного фаэового пространства, аналиэируется реакция π+р → π++π при 11.7ГзВ/с. Полученные реэультаты сравниваются с реэультатами Киттеля и др., полученными при аналиэе реакции πр → ππ+ при 11 и 16 ГзВ/с. Подробно исследуются четыре основных сектора:

    π+p → (3π)p,

  2. (2)

    π+p → π+(pπ+π),

  3. (3)

    π+p → (π+π+)(pπ),

  4. (4)

    π+p → (π+π)(pπ+)

В частности, секторы (1) и (2) очень похожи на соответствуюшие секторы, которые наблюдались в πp соударениях при зтих двух импульсах. Секторы (3) и (4) подробно сравниваются с зквивалентными конфигурациями, наблюденными в реакции πp при 11 ГзВ/с, т.е.:

    πp → (ππ)(pπ+),

  2. (4′)

    πp → (π+π)(pπ).
