Abstract
The paper describes the design and reports the results of tests of a linear transformer driver with the following parameters: stored energy 14 kJ, output voltage 90 kV, current amplitude in the secondary winding 750 kA, and current risetime to its peak ∼430 ns. The driver can be employed as the main generator unit powering a load of the Z-pinch type as well as in high-current charged-particle accelerators.
