Individui diOphryotrocha puerilis puerilis sono stati allevati a temperature di 10, 18 e 21 °C. Gli individui allevati a temperature più elevate hanno invertito il sesso ad un numero di segmenti inferiore agli altri. Si rileva che la sottospecie mediterranea diOphryotrocha puerilis inverte ad un numero di segmenti inferiore alla sottospecie atlantica.
