Abstract

An optimality criteria method coupled with Kreisselmeier-Steinhauser (K-S) functions (see Kreisselmeier and Steinhauser 1979) has been evaluated, utilizing the cumulative nature ofK-S functions (i.e. single constraint).K-S functions are linearized to obtain a closed form solution. Well-known examples are used to illustrate validity for displacement and stress constraints. Results compared with the reference solution (DUAL 2 method) are in good agreement. CPU times of the new optimizer are of the same order of magnitude as those of DUAL 2.
