Abstract

The structure and phase transformation of Cu83.34Pt16.66 alloy have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, TEM, differential thermal analysis, and measurements of electrical resistance and hardness. It was found that this alloy underwent a spinodal order decomposition. During heat treatment, superstructure with an f c c structure was formed rapidly and then progressively transformed to the stable ordered phase PtCu5 with an fcr structure.
